Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Pot and soil cost 8 + 3 × 4.50 = £21.50
  2. 2Money left for seeds: 30 − 21.50 = £8.50
  3. 38.50 ÷ 1.10 = 7.72…, so he can buy 7 packets
  4. 47 packets cost 7 × 1.10 = £7.70
  5. 5Change = 8.50 − 7.70 = 0.80
