Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Bargain Crafts: pay for 2, get 1 free, so for every 3 tins pay for 2
  2. 2Number of tins Heidi buys = 30
  3. 3Number of tins to pay for = (2/3) × 30 = 20
  4. 4Cost at Bargain Crafts = 20 × 4.20 = 84
  5. 5Art's Store: pack of 5 tins for $18, 25% off each pack
  6. 6Discount per pack = 0.25 × 18 = 4.50
  7. 7Price per pack after discount = 18 − 4.50 = 13.50
  8. 8Number of packs Amir needs = 30 ÷ 5 = 6
  9. 9Cost at Art's Store = 6 × 13.50 = 81
  10. 10Difference = 84 − 81 = 3
