Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Factorise 18c − 45cd fully.
- 1HCF of 18c and 45cd is 9c
- 218c ÷ 9c = 2 and 45cd ÷ 9c = 5d
- 318c − 45cd = 9c(2 − 5d)
Answer9c(2 − 5d)
Part (b) · 3 marks
Solve (5 − 2x) ÷ 6 = 3x − 4, showing clear algebraic working.
- 1Multiply both sides by 6: 5 − 2x = 6(3x − 4)
- 25 − 2x = 18x − 24
- 35 + 24 = 18x + 2x
- 429 = 20x
- 5x = 29/20 = 1.45
