The question, in short
Measure a marked angle between two lines, then use ruler and compasses to construct a triangle with sides 9.5 cm, 8 cm and 12 cm, keeping construction arcs.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 1 mark
Measure the angle marked with an arc between the two straight lines.
- 1Place the protractor on the vertex with the zero line along one arm
- 2Angle = 40°
Answer40° (accept 38 to 42)
Part (b) · 2 marks
Construct the triangle with sides 9.5 cm, 8 cm and 12 cm using ruler and compasses only, leaving arcs; the 12 cm side is given.
- 1Set compasses to 9.5 cm and draw an arc from one end of the 12 cm line (as in the diagram)
- 2Set compasses to 8 cm and draw an arc from the other end
- 3Join both ends of the line to the point where the arcs cross
