Part (aii) · 3 marks
For a 100 km journey costing $98, show the journey time equals 2 hours.
- 1Distance cost = 100 × 0.5 = 50
- 2Time cost = 98 − 50 = 48
- 3Time = 48 ÷ 0.4 = 120 minutes = 2 hours
Answer98 − 100 × 0.5 = 48 48 ÷ 0.4 = 120 minutes = 2 hours

- 11 part = 8190 ÷ (5 + 2 + 7) = 8190 ÷ 14 = 585
- 25 × 585 = 2925, 2 × 585 = 1170, 7 × 585 = 4095
- 32925 km, 1170 km, 4095 km
AnswerDriver 1: 2925 km, Driver 2: 1170 km, Driver 3: 4095 km
