0580/11 May/Jun 2022, Question 16: Rearranging Formulas

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 11 (Core) · Calculator · 3 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

For v = 3 − 5t, find v at t = 4 and rearrange the formula to express t in terms of v.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Substitute t = 4 into v = 3 − 5t and calculate the resulting value of v.

  1. 1v = 3 − 5 × 4 = 3 − 20 = −17

Answer−17

Part (b) · 2 marks

Rearrange v = 3 − 5t to make t the subject of the formula.

  1. 15t = 3 − v
  2. 2t = (3 − v)/5

Answer(3 − v)/5 or (v − 3)/(−5)
