The question, in short

Use the formula V = 4mp² to evaluate V for given m and p, then find the positive p for given V and m.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Substitute m = 10 and p = −3 into V = 4mp² and calculate V.

  1. 1V = 4 × 10 × (−3)²
  2. 2= 4 × 10 × 9 = 360

Answer360

Part (b) · 2 marks

Given V = 3200 and m = 2, solve V = 4mp² for the positive value of p.

  1. 13200 = 4 × 2 × p²
  2. 2p² = 3200 ÷ 8 = 400
  3. 3p = √400 = 20
