Part (a) · 1 mark
Shade the part of the Venn diagram that lies outside both circles M and N.
- 1M′ ∩ N′ is the part outside both M and N
- 2Shade the region inside ℰ but outside both circles
AnswerRegion outside both M and N shaded
Part (b) · 1 mark
Using the counts shown, find n(B ∩ (A′ ∪ C)).
- 1A′ ∪ C: everything not in A, plus all of C
- 2Parts of B in A′ ∪ C: B only 3, B ∩ C only 4, A ∩ B ∩ C 10
- 3n(B ∩ (A′ ∪ C)) = 3 + 4 + 10 = 17
