The question, in short

Using a travel graph of Tim's drive home from work, with distance from home in km against time from 14 00 to 15 30, find his departure time, distance travelled before stopping, and stop duration.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 1 mark

State the time Tim leaves work, read from the start of the travel graph.

  1. 1The graph leaves 36 km (work) at 14 10
  2. 2Tim leaves work at 1410

Answer1410

Part (bi) · 1 mark

Find the distance Tim travels from work before he stops, using the graph.

  1. 1The line goes from 36 km down to 12 km before it becomes horizontal
  2. 2Distance = 36 − 12 = 24 km

Answer24
