Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1(1/3)ˣ = (3⁻¹)ˣ = 3⁻ˣ and 9^(x + 4) = 3^(2(x + 4))
  2. 2−x = 2(x + 4) = 2x + 8
  3. 3−3x = 8
  4. 4x = −8/3 = −2 2/3

Answer−8/3 or −2 2/3
