Part (a) · 2 marks
Find the percentage profit on the candle bought for $3.20 and sold for $4.64.
- 1Profit = 4.64 − 3.20 = 1.44
- 2Percentage profit = 1.44 ÷ 3.20 × 100 = 45%
Answer45
Part (b) · 3 marks
Calculate the radius of a cone-shaped candle with volume 900 cm³ and height 8 cm.
- 1900 = 1/3 × π × r² × 8
- 2r² = 900 × 3 ÷ (8π) = 107.4…
- 3r = √107.4… = 10.36… ≈ 10.4 cm
Answer10.4 or 10.36…
