The question, in short
Factorise two algebraic expressions: a four-term expression in c, x, b, y, and a quadratic in x.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Factorise 3cx + 2bx − 6cy − 4by by grouping terms.
- 1x(3c + 2b) − 2y(3c + 2b)
- 2= (3c + 2b)(x − 2y)
Answer(3c + 2b)(x − 2y)
Part (b) · 2 marks
Factorise the quadratic 6x² + 7x − 10.
- 16 × (−10) = −60; 12 and −5 multiply to −60 and add to 7
- 26x² + 12x − 5x − 10 = 6x(x + 2) − 5(x + 2)
- 3= (6x − 5)(x + 2)
Answer(6x − 5)(x + 2)
