The question, in short

From a table of relative frequencies for a four-colour spinner, find the missing green value and the expected number of blue results in 150 spins.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Use the fact that all relative frequencies total 1 to find the missing relative frequency for green.

  1. 1Relative frequencies add to 1
  2. 2Green = 1 − (0.15 + 0.3 + 0.2) = 1 − 0.65
  3. 3= 0.35

Answer0.35

Part (b) · 1 mark

Using the blue relative frequency 0.3, calculate the expected number of blue outcomes in 150 spins.

  1. 1Expected number = 0.3 × 150 = 45
