The question, in short
A regular octagon ABFGHIJK contains pentagon ABCDE with one line of symmetry; angles AED = 112°, BCD = 112°, CDE = 84°. Find x, where angle KAE = x°.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1360 ÷ 8 = 45
- 2180 − 45 = 135
- 3Sum of interior angles of pentagon = (5 − 2) × 180 = 540
- 4540 − 112 − 112 − 84 = 232
- 5232 ÷ 2 = 116
- 6135 − 116 = 19
