4MA1/1H Jan 2023, Question 14: Plotting Curves from a Table of Values

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1 · Paper 1H (Higher) · Calculator · 1 mark

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Complete a table of values for y = (2/x)(5 − 1/x) at given x values, then draw its graph for 0.5 ≤ x ≤ 5 on a grid.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 1 mark

  1. 1y = 2(5x − 1) ÷ x²
  2. 2When x = 0.5: y = 2 × (5 × 0.5 − 1) ÷ 0.5² = 2 × 1.5 ÷ 0.25 = 12
  3. 3When x = 2: y = 2 × (5 × 2 − 1) ÷ 2² = 2 × 9 ÷ 4 = 4.5
  4. 4The missing values are 12 (at x = 0.5) and 4.5 (at x = 2)

Answer12 and 4.5
