Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1 · Paper 1HR (Higher) · Calculator · 5 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Hollow metal sphere with internal radius 1.2 m and metal thickness t cm; density 2700 kg/m³ and mass 1980 kg. Find t to 2 significant figures.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 5 marks

  1. 1Metal volume = 1980 ÷ 2700 = 0.7333… m³
  2. 2Inner volume = 4/3 × π × 1.2³ = 7.2382… m³
  3. 3Outer radius R: 4/3 × π × R³ = 7.9715…, so R = 1.2392… m
  4. 4t = 1.2392… − 1.2 = 0.0392… m = 3.92 cm
  5. 5t = 3.9 (2 s.f.)
