اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using a histogram of baby birth weights from 2 to 5 kg with unscaled frequency density, and given 6 babies outside 2.5 to 4 kg, find how many weigh between 2.5 kg and 4 kg.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 3 marks

  1. 1Area for <2.5 kg and >4 kg = 4 × 5 + 1 × 10 = 30 small squares
  2. 230 squares = 6 babies, so 5 squares = 1 baby
  3. 3Area from 2.5 to 4 kg = 4 × 5 + 20 × 4 + 25 × 2 + 15 × 4 = 210
  4. 4210 ÷ 5 = 42
