The question, in short
A 5 m by 4 m by 3 m cuboid box exerts 105 N on a table on one whole face. Find the difference between the greatest and least pressures, P − Q.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 3 marks
- 1Face areas: 5 × 4 = 20, 4 × 3 = 12, 3 × 5 = 15 m²
- 2Greatest pressure uses the smallest face: P = 105 ÷ 12 = 8.75
- 3Least pressure uses the largest face: Q = 105 ÷ 20 = 5.25
- 4P − Q = 8.75 − 5.25 = 3.5
