The question, in short
A sequence starts 7, 11, 15, 19. Give the next term, explain the method used, and work out the 12th term.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 1 mark
State the term that follows 19 in the sequence.
- 1The terms go up by 4
- 219 + 4 = 23
Answer23
Part (b) · 1 mark
Describe the rule or step used to get the next term.
- 111 − 7 = 4, 15 − 11 = 4, 19 − 15 = 4
- 2Each term is 4 more than the one before
- 3so add 4 to 19
AnswerAdd 4 to the previous term: 19 + 4 = 23
Part (c) · 1 mark
Calculate the value of the 12th term.
- 1nth term = 4n + 3
- 212th term = 4 × 12 + 3
- 3= 51
