The question, in short
Given position vectors of A and B relative to origin O, find the vector AB and a unit vector parallel to it.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Find the vector AB from A to B as a simplified expression in i and j.
- 1AB = OB − OA
- 2= (i + 7j) − (4i + 3j) = −3i + 4j
AnswerAB = −3i + 4j
Part (b) · 2 marks
Find a unit vector parallel to the vector AB.
- 1|AB| = √((−3)² + 4²) = 5
- 2Unit vector = (1/5)(−3i + 4j) (or its negative)
Answer(1/5)(−3i + 4j) or −(1/5)(−3i + 4j)
