The question, in short
A transversal crosses two parallel lines, with 58° and angles a and b marked at the intersections. Find a and b, giving a geometrical reason for each.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Solution · 4 marks
- 1a and 58° are vertically opposite, so a = 58
- 2b and a are co-interior angles between parallel lines, so they add to 180°
- 3b = 180 − 58 = 122
- 4a = 58 (vertically opposite), b = 122 (co-interior angles)
Answera = 58, vertically opposite (angles); b = 122, co-interior (allied) angles
