The question, in short

Given P = 6a + 5b, find b for P = 25 and a = 3, then rearrange W = kT + y to make T the subject.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Substitute P = 25 and a = 3 into P = 6a + 5b and find the value of b.

  1. 125 = 6 × 3 + 5b
  2. 225 = 18 + 5b
  3. 35b = 7
  4. 4b = 7 ÷ 5 = 1.4

Answer1.4

Part (b) · 2 marks

Rearrange the formula W = kT + y so that T is the subject.

  1. 1W − y = kT
  2. 2T = (W − y)/k

Answer(W − y)/k or W/k − y/k
