اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←
The question, in short
In the diagram, ABC is a straight line and BD is parallel to AE. Angle CBD is 53° and angle DBE is 32°. Find x and y, giving a geometrical reason for each.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Find the value of x and state a geometrical reason for it.
- 1BD is parallel to AE, so angle BEA = angle DBE
- 2x = 32 (alternate angles)
Answer32 alternate angles
Part (b) · 2 marks
Find the value of y and state a geometrical reason for it.
- 1BD is parallel to AE and ABC is a straight line, so angle BAE = angle CBD
- 2y = 53 (corresponding angles)
Answer53 corresponding angles
