Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Factorise 28xy − 12x fully.
- 1HCF of 28xy and 12x is 4x
- 228xy − 12x = 4x(7y − 3)
Answer4x(7y − 3)
Part (b) · 2 marks
Factorise y − 6x + 2xy − 3 by grouping terms.
- 1y − 6x + 2xy − 3 = 2xy − 6x + y − 3
- 2= 2x(y − 3) + 1(y − 3)
- 3= (2x + 1)(y − 3)
Answer(2x + 1)(y − 3)
