Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 3 marks

Work out what fraction of the shape's area is coloured red.

  1. 12/5 + 3/7 = 14/35 + 15/35 = 29/35
  2. 2Red = 1 − 29/35 = 6/35

Answer6/35

Part (b) · 2 marks

Using 12 cm² as the green area, work out the shape's total area.

  1. 13/7 of the area = 12 cm²
  2. 21/7 of the area = 4 cm²
  3. 3Total = 7 × 4 = 28 cm²
