The question, in short
Find where the line y = 7 − 4x meets the curve y = 4 + 3x − 2x².
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Solution · 5 marks
- 17 − 4x = 4 + 3x − 2x²
- 22x² − 7x + 3 = 0
- 3(2x − 1)(x − 3) = 0, so x = 0.5 or x = 3
- 4x = 0.5: y = 7 − 2 = 5; x = 3: y = 7 − 12 = −5
- 5(0.5, 5) and (3, −5)
Answer(0.5, 5) and (3, −5)
