The question, in short

Table gives transport frequencies for 40 students; find missing pie chart sector angles and complete the pie chart using the given circle with one radius.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Calculate the pie chart sector angle for each transport type: bus 8, car 15, walk 17, out of 40 students.

  1. 1360 ÷ 40 = 9° per student
  2. 2bus 8 × 9 = 72°
  3. 3car 15 × 9 = 135°
  4. 4walk 17 × 9 = 153°

Answerbus 72, car 135, walk 153

Part (b) · 2 marks

Use the calculated angles to complete the pie chart, starting from the vertical radius already drawn.

  1. 1Start at the given radius
  2. 2Measure and draw 72° for bus, then 135° for car
  3. 3The remaining sector is 153° for walk; label the sectors

AnswerAccurate pie chart with sectors 72°, 135° and 153°
