The question, in short

Calculate the surface area of a cuboid with dimensions 8 cm, 5 cm and 3 cm, then find the volume of a sphere with radius 6.4 cm.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 3 marks

Work out the total surface area of the cuboid using its three given dimensions.

  1. 1Faces: 3 × 5 = 15, 3 × 8 = 24, 8 × 5 = 40
  2. 215 + 24 + 40 = 79
  3. 3Surface area = 2 × 79 = 158 cm²

Answer158

Part (b) · 2 marks

Work out the volume of the sphere from its radius of 6.4 cm.

  1. 1V = 4/3 × π × r³
  2. 2= 4/3 × π × 6.4³
  3. 3= 1098.07… ≈ 1100 cm³

Answer1100 or 1098 or 1098.0 to 1098.2…
