The question, in short

Use the given surface area of a cube to find its side length, then work with a trapezium of area 106.25 cm² and parallel sides 10 cm and 15 cm.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 3 marks

Given surface area 121.5 cm² of a cube, calculate the side length.

  1. 1Area of one face = 121.5 ÷ 6 = 20.25 cm²
  2. 2Side = √20.25 = 4.5 cm

Answer4.5

Part (bi) · 2 marks

With trapezium area 106.25 cm² and parallel sides 10 cm and 15 cm, calculate the height h.

  1. 11/2 × (10 + 15) × h = 106.25
  2. 212.5h = 106.25
  3. 3h = 106.25 ÷ 12.5 = 8.5 cm

Answer8.5

Part (bii) · 1 mark

Convert 106.25 cm² into m².

  1. 11 m² = 100 × 100 = 10 000 cm²
  2. 2106.25 ÷ 10 000 = 0.010625 m²

Answer0.010625
