Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 43 (Extended) · Calculator · 5 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

A building of height h m, a point 22 m from its base and a 25 m line from the top: find h by Pythagoras, then the angle of depression from the top.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 3 marks

Use Pythagoras with 25 m and 22 m to find h.

  1. 1h² + 22² = 25²
  2. 2h² = 625 − 484 = 141
  3. 3h = √141 = 11.87…
  4. 4h = 11.9

Answer11.9 or 11.87…

Part (b) · 2 marks

Angle of depression of B seen from A.

  1. 1Angle of depression = angle ABX at B (alternate angles)
  2. 2cos B = 22/25
  3. 3B = cos⁻¹(0.88) = 28.4°

Answer28.3 or 28.4 or 28.34 to 28.42
