Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 12 (Core) · Calculator · 2 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Work out two vector calculations: a sum of two column vectors, and a scalar multiple of a column vector.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Add the column vectors (3, −2) and (−5, 7), giving the result as a column vector.

  1. 1(3 + (−5), −2 + 7) = column vector (−2, 5)

Answercolumn vector (−2, 5)

Part (b) · 1 mark

Multiply the column vector (3, −1) by the scalar 5, giving the result as a column vector.

  1. 1(5 × 3, 5 × (−1)) = column vector (15, −5)

Answercolumn vector (15, −5)
