0580/12 Oct/Nov 2022, Question 9: Adding and Subtracting Vectors

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 12 (Core) · Calculator · 2 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Work out two vector calculations: add the column vectors (6, −3) and (4, −5), and multiply the column vector (3, −2) by 6.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Add the column vectors (6, −3) and (4, −5) and give the result.

  1. 1(6 + 4, −3 + (−5)) = column vector (10, −8)

Answercolumn vector (10, −8)

Part (b) · 1 mark

Multiply the column vector (3, −2) by the scalar 6 and give the result.

  1. 1(6 × 3, 6 × (−2)) = column vector (18, −12)

Answercolumn vector (18, −12)
