Part (a) · 2 marks
Simplify 6a + 3b − 2a − 5b by combining like terms.
- 16a − 2a = 4a and 3b − 5b = −2b
- 24a − 2b
Answer4a − 2b or 2(2a − b)
Part (b) · 2 marks
Using s = 5t + 1/2at², find s when t = 6 and a = 3.
- 1s = 5 × 6 + 1/2 × 3 × 6²
- 2= 30 + 54 = 84
