Part (a) · 1 mark
Change 1.2 m² into mm².
- 11 m² = 1000 × 1000 = 1 000 000 mm²
- 21.2 m² = 1 200 000 mm²
Answer1 200 000
Part (b) · 2 marks
Given an 80 km/h limit and Sophie's 1200 m/min, show her speed is below the limit.
- 11200 m/min × 60 = 72 000 m/h
- 272 000 ÷ 1000 = 72 km/h
- 372 km/h < 80 km/h, so Sophie is below the speed limit
Answer(1200 × 60)/1000 = 72 km/h, or (80 × 1000)/60 = 1333.3… m/min
