The question, in short

Using a scale drawing where 1 cm stands for 10 km, work out the real distance from K to L and the bearing of L as seen from K.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Convert the measured length of the line joining K and L into a real distance in km using the given scale.

  1. 1Measured length KL on the drawing = 8.5 cm
  2. 2Actual distance = 8.5 × 10 = 85 km

Answer85 (accept 83 to 87)

Part (b) · 1 mark

Use the North line at K to measure and state the bearing on which L lies from K.

  1. 1Measure clockwise from the North line at K to the line KL
  2. 2Bearing = 065°

Answer065 (accept 063 to 067)
