اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Using a scale drawing where 1 cm stands for 0.8 km, work out the real separation of lighthouses P and Q, take the bearing of Q from P, and handle a boat B at bearing 127° from P.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (ai) · 2 marks

Convert the drawn length between P and Q into kilometres using the given scale.

  1. 1PQ on the drawing = 9.5 cm
  2. 2Actual distance = 9.5 × 0.8 = 7.6 km

Answer7.6 (accept 7.44 to 7.76)

Part (aii) · 1 mark

Use a protractor on the diagram to state the bearing of Q measured at P.

  1. 1Measure clockwise from the North line at P to the line PQ
  2. 2Bearing = 102°

Answer102 (accept 100 to 104)

Part (b) · 2 marks

Given B lies on a bearing of 127° from P, work out the bearing of P as seen from B.

  1. 1Bearing of P from B = 127 + 180
  2. 2= 307°
