Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 · Paper 23 (Extended) · Non-calculator · 2 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Rectangle ABCD with equilateral triangle EFG touching at F on BC and G on AD; angle BFE is 12°. Find x, angle GFC, and y, angle FGD.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 2 marks

  1. 1Angles in an equilateral triangle are 60°
  2. 2Angles on a straight line at F: x = 180 − 12 − 60 = 108
  3. 3AD is parallel to BC, so x + y = 180 (co-interior angles)
  4. 4y = 180 − 108 = 72

Answerx = 108, y = 72
