The question, in short
Using a table of fruit costs with unknowns p, q, r, s and a total of 240.30, find the unknowns, then work out profit and pie chart values from given sales figures.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.
Part (ai) · 4 marks
Find the values of p, q, r and s from the table and the total cost price of 240.30.
- 1p = 72 × 1.35 = 97.20
- 2q = 240.30 − 25.50 − 97.20 − 51.30 = 66.30
- 3r = 66.30 ÷ 1.95 = 34
- 4s = 51.30 ÷ 45 = 1.14
Answerp = 97.20, q = 66.30, r = 34, s = 1.14
Part (aii) · 2 marks
Given total selling price 325, calculate the percentage profit on the fruit.
- 1Profit = 325 − 240.30 = 84.70
- 2Percentage profit = 84.70/240.30 × 100 = 35.24… ≈ 35.2%
Answer35.2 or 35.24 to 35.25
Part (bia) · 2 marks
Calculate the pie chart angle for fruit sales of 9520.70 out of total sales 34 974.
- 1Angle = 9520.70/34 974 × 360
- 2= 98°
Answer98
Part (bib) · 2 marks
Given a frozen food angle of 46°, calculate the frozen food sales from total sales 34 974.
- 1Sales = 46/360 × 34 974
- 2= $4468.90
Answer4468.90
Part (bii) · 2 marks
Given total sales 34 974 in 2022 are a 4.4% increase, calculate the 2021 total sales.
- 12021 sales × 1.044 = 34 974
- 22021 sales = 34 974 ÷ 1.044 = $33 500
Answer33 500
