The question, in short

Two mathematically similar prisms: A has volume 5000 cm³ and length 50 cm, B has cross-section area 16 cm². Find the length of prism B.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Cross-section area of A = 5000 ÷ 50 = 100 cm²
  2. 2Area scale factor = 16/100
  3. 3Length scale factor = √(16/100) = 4/10 = 0.4
  4. 4Length of B = 50 × 0.4 = 20 cm
