Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and any diagrams.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1Multiply by (x − 1)(x − 3): x(x − 3) − 5(x − 1) = (x − 1)(x − 3)
  2. 2x² − 3x − 5x + 5 = x² − 4x + 3
  3. 3−8x + 5 = −4x + 3
  4. 4−4x = −2
  5. 5x = 1/2
