The question, in short
Use the scale drawing of field ABCDE with a sector stage at C and scale 1 cm to 2.5 m to determine the stage radius, construct and shade a zone boundary, and price 8 tickets at $30.75 each.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
Measure the stage sector's radius on the drawing in cm, then convert to metres using 1 cm to 2.5 m.
- 1Radius of the stage on the drawing measures about 3 cm (2.8 to 3.2 cm)
- 2Actual radius = 3 × 2.5 = 7.5 m (in the range 7 to 8 m)
Answer7 to 8
Part (bi) · 2 marks
With compasses and straight edge only, construct the line separating points closer to EA from those closer to ED.
- 1Zone 1 is nearer EA than ED, so the boundary is the bisector of angle AED
- 2With compasses centred at E, draw arcs cutting EA and ED
- 3From these two points draw equal arcs that cross inside the field
- 4Rule the line from E through the crossing point until it meets the edge of the stage
AnswerAcceptable bisector of angle AED with correct arcs meeting boundary of stage
Part (bii) · 1 mark
Shade the zone lying nearer to side EA than to side ED, excluding the stage.
- 1Shade the part of the field on the EA side of the bisector (the side containing A), not including the stage
AnswerCorrect region shaded
Part (c) · 1 mark
Calculate the total cost of 8 concert tickets priced at $30.75 each.
- 1Cost = 8 × 30.75
- 2= $246
