Cambridge O Level Mathematics 4024 · Paper 12 (Non-calculator) · Non-calculator · 4 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

From a cumulative frequency graph of 60 onion masses in grams, estimate the interquartile range and find the mass threshold N above which 24 onions are large.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Use the cumulative frequency curve to estimate the interquartile range of the onion masses.

  1. 1LQ at cumulative frequency 1/4 × 60 = 15: LQ = 205 g
  2. 2UQ at cumulative frequency 3/4 × 60 = 45: UQ = 300 g
  3. 3IQR = 300 − 205 = 95 g

Answer95

Part (b) · 2 marks

Given 24 of the 60 onions are large, use the graph to find the mass N grams.

  1. 1Onions lighter than N: 60 − 24 = 36
  2. 2Read across from cumulative frequency 36 to the curve: N = 260
