The question, in short

Table and pie chart show travel-to-work data. Use the given cycle and walk values to complete missing numbers and angles, then finish the pie chart.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 2 marks

Complete the table by finding the missing number of people for car and the missing pie chart angles for car and bus.

  1. 120 people ↔ 120°, so 1 person = 6° and total = 360 ÷ 6 = 60 people
  2. 2Car = 60 − 20 − 12 − 5 = 23 people, angle = 23 × 6 = 138°
  3. 3Bus = 5 × 6 = 30°

Answer| Car | 23 | 138° | | Bus | 5 | 30° |

Part (b) · 2 marks

Complete the pie chart, which already shows a 120° cycle sector, to display all the table information.

  1. 1Cycle: 20 people = 120°, so 1 person = 120 ÷ 20 = 6°.
  2. 2Total people = 360 ÷ 6 = 60, so Car = 60 − 20 − 12 − 5 = 23.
  3. 3Walk = 72°, Car = 23 × 6 = 138°, Bus = 5 × 6 = 30°.
  4. 4Draw and label these sectors next to Cycle. Correct pie chart
