Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A 4MA1 · Paper 1HR (Higher) · Calculator · 4 marks

اقرأ هذا الحل مشروحاً بالعربي ←

The question, in short

Circle with tangent ABC at B; angle ABD = 39° and angle EFD = 18°. Find angle BDE, giving reasons.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Solution · 4 marks

  1. 1ABC is a tangent at B and BD is a chord, so angle BED = angle ABD = 39° (alternate segment theorem)
  2. 2Angle EBD and angle EFD both stand on the arc ED, so angle EBD = angle EFD = 18° (angles in the same segment are equal)
  3. 3In triangle BDE the three angles add up to 180°
  4. 4Angle BDE = 180 − (39 + 18)
  5. 5Angle BDE = 123°
