The question, in short

Using a diagram with villages R, T and W, find bearings involving R, T and W from given angles at R.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (a) · 1 mark

Find the bearing of W from R using the 125° and 84° angles shown.

  1. 1The bearing of T from R is 125°, measured clockwise from North
  2. 2Angle WRT = 84°, and W is a further 84° clockwise from T
  3. 3125 + 84 = 209, so the bearing of W from R is 209°

Answer209

Part (b) · 2 marks

Find the bearing of R from T, using the bearing of T from R.

  1. 1The bearing of T from R is 125°
  2. 2The bearing back the other way is 180° more
  3. 3125 + 180 = 305, so the bearing of R from T is 305°
