The question, in short

On a coordinate grid from 0 to 7, draw and label three straight lines, then shade and label the region meeting three inequalities.

Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.

Part (ai) · 1 mark

Draw and label the vertical line x = 1.5 on the grid.

  1. 1Draw a vertical line at x = 1.5

AnswerA vertical line through x = 1.5

Part (aii) · 1 mark

Draw and label the line y = x on the grid.

  1. 1Draw a straight line through points (0,0), (1,1), (2,2), etc.

AnswerA straight line through (0, 0), (1, 1), (2, 2) and on to (6, 6)

Part (aiii) · 1 mark

Draw and label the line x + y = 6 on the grid.

  1. 1Plot the line x + y = 6 using points such as (0,6), (1,5), (2,4), (3,3), (6,0)
  2. 2Draw straight line through these points

AnswerA straight line through (0, 6), (3, 3) and (6, 0)

Part (b) · 1 mark

Shade the region satisfying x ≥ 1.5, y ≥ x and x + y ≤ 6, and label it R.

  1. 1x ≥ 1.5 is to the right of the line x = 1.5
  2. 2y ≥ x is above y = x, and x + y ≤ 6 is below x + y = 6
  3. 3Shade the triangle with corners (1.5, 1.5), (1.5, 4.5) and (3, 3) and label it R

AnswerThe triangle bounded by x = 1.5, y = x and x + y = 6, with corners (1.5, 1.5), (1.5, 4.5) and (3, 3), labelled R
