The question, in short
Using a partly filled two-way table for 120 cyclists (67 professional, rest amateur) and bike-type totals, complete the table, find the mountain-bike percentage, and calculate the pie-chart angle for 41 over-60s.
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 3 marks
Fill in all the missing cells of the two-way table using the given row and column totals.
- 1Amateur total = 120 − 67 = 53
- 2Hybrid total = 120 − 39 − 54 = 27
- 3Professional mountain = 54 − 32 = 22
- 4Professional hybrid = 67 − 26 − 22 = 19
- 5Amateur road = 39 − 26 = 13
- 6Amateur hybrid = 27 − 19 = 8
- 7Check the amateur row: 13 + 32 + 8 = 53
- 8Professional: 26, 22, 19, total 67; Amateur: 13, 32, 8, total 53; Totals: 39, 54, 27, 120
AnswerProfessional: 26, 22, 19, 67; Amateur: 13, 32, 8, 53; Total: 39, 54, 27, 120
Part (b) · 2 marks
Calculate the percentage of the 120 cyclists whose favourite bike is Mountain bike.
- 1Number who answered Mountain bike = 54
- 2Total cyclists = 120
- 3Percentage = (54 / 120) × 100 = 45
Answer45
Part (c) · 2 marks

- 1Number in 'over 60' group = 41
- 2Total cyclists = 120
- 3Angle = (41 / 120) × 360 = 123
