Determine the median number of cookies made by the 21 people.
- 1There are 21 people, so the median is in the (21 + 1) ÷ 2 = 11th position.
- 2List the number of cookies in order: 10, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 12, 12, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 14, 14, 15, 15.
- 3The 11th value is 13.
- 4So the median is 13.
Answer13
Part (c) · 2 marks
Calculate the total number of cookies made by all 21 people.
- 1Calculate the total: 10 × 1 = 10
- 211 × 7 = 77
- 312 × 2 = 24
- 413 × 5 = 65
- 514 × 4 = 56
- 615 × 2 = 30
- 7Add them: 10 + 77 + 24 + 65 + 56 + 30 = 262
- 8So the total number of cookies made is 262.
