The question, in short
Using centimetre grids, construct two shapes: a rectangle whose perimeter is 14 cm, and a right-angled triangle whose area is 12 cm².
Summarised in our own words. Use the official paper for the exact wording and the diagram.
Part (a) · 2 marks
On the centimetre grid, sketch a rectangle that has a perimeter of 14 cm.
- 1Perimeter = 2 × (length + width)
- 2Choose length and width such that 2 × (l + w) = 14
- 3So l + w = 7
- 4Draw rectangle with e.g. length 4 cm and width 3 cm
AnswerRectangle with perimeter 14 cm
Part (b) · 2 marks
On the centimetre grid, sketch a right-angled triangle that has an area of 12 cm².
- 1Area = (1/2) × base × height
- 2Choose base and height such that (1/2) × b × h = 12
- 3So b × h = 24
- 4Draw right-angled triangle with e.g. base 6 cm and height 4 cm
AnswerRight-angled triangle with area 12 cm²
