Part (a) · 3 marks
Complete the two-way table using the given totals: men 80, women 17 by bus, totals 29 bus, 43 train, 150 overall.
- 1Total people = 150
- 2Total men = 80, so women = 150 − 80 = 70
- 3Total bus = 29, women bus = 17, so men bus = 29 − 17 = 12
- 4Men total = 80, men bus = 12, men train = 15, so men plane = 80 − 12 − 15 = 53
- 5Total plane = 150 − 29 − 43 = 78
- 6Women plane = 78 − 53 = 25
- 7Women train = 70 − 17 − 25 = 28
- 8Check: women total = 17 + 28 + 25 = 70
Answerbus: men 12, women 17, total 29; train: men 15, women 28, total 43; plane: men 53, women 25, total 78; total: men 80, women 70, overall 150
Part (b) · 1 mark

- 1Number of men who took train = 15
- 2Total number of men = 80
- 3Probability = 15 / 80
